The STooPS Festival lights up Bedford-Stuyvesant by turning neighborhood stoops and sidewalks into lively stages, celebrating the area’s deep-rooted cultural identity.
Kendra J. Ross, founder and director, champions the festival’s purpose of honoring and uplifting Bed-Stuy’s diverse voices and traditions.
For over ten years, STooPS has bridged art with community, offering free or low-cost live performances, wellness classes, and workshops that invite participation from all ages.
Attendees also join guided tours exploring Bed-Stuy’s historic landmarks, keeping the neighborhood’s story alive for future generations.
Pia Monique Murat, creative director, sees each event as a revival of local history and urges the community to get involved and support STooPS’ ongoing work.
Looking forward, STooPS will host holiday pop-ups and a Black Futures Festival with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, ensuring Bed-Stuy’s vibrant spirit continues to thrive.
